There is something inherently regal about the Australian King Parrot. While the cockatoos bring the noise and the chaos, the King Parrot arrives with a quiet, dignified grace. In this painting, I wanted to capture that stillness and the incredible intensity of his crimson plumage.
I chose to set him against a deep, shadowed background to create a "glow" effect, allowing the vibrant reds and forest greens to take center stage. The composition is inspired by the moments he spends perched among the pine needles, watchful and calm. By using a vignette style, I’ve tried to pull the viewer’s focus entirely onto the intricate details of his feathers and that gentle, knowing expression.
This piece is part of my series celebrating the local birdlife that shares my home. It is professionally finished in a natural timber floater frame, mirroring the organic textures of the bird’s native habitat.
This piece measures 50 cm by 40 cm.
